Proud to be 50!

Words written by Sam Clarke our Skincare Nurse Specialist at SkinAddict….   I am proud to be 50!  It was recently my birthday. Yes, it was a round numbered “big birthday”, a milestone; some may say. To be honest I was dreading it, the approach to half a century felt scary!  But it is a privilege to be able to age and when we think of others that have lost their lives too young, this thought snapped me out of being absorbed in any kind of self pity. Once the celebrations were over, and maybe when I was feeling a little jaded after too many G&Ts, I did wonder how time has flown! I swear only a few years ago I was 35!    So what about the next 15? Where will my life be? And what will I look like?    Now when I look in the mirror I notice more fine lines, my skin feels less plump and features are definitely not as bright and defined as a few years ago. But as I know from working in this industry for 22 years and seeing many patients go through the same stage (menopausal aged women lose approx 30%

Try opening the windows, or turning on a fan, to circulate the airflow and keep your bedroom cool. It has also been proven that cutting out alcohol and caffeine, as well as other triggers such as spicy foods and smoking, help women get a better night’s sleep during this phase of their lives.   Skincare equals self-care It has been proven that 30% of the collagen in your skin

No.6 Clinic Case Study

Using the award winning Profhilo injectable, Dr Natasha Gilani achieved outstanding results on her patient’s neck.  As you can see from these before and after photos, the skin looks more refreshed and fine lines are softened. Our patient is also delighted with improvements to her neck elasticity, hydration, skin tone and overall radiance. Dr Gilani typically recommends 2 treatments, 4 weeks apart, depending on the area to be treated. However because the neck is a challenging area to treat, particularly the crepiness and laxity, which are common concerns, to achieve her desired look, Dr Gilani saw her patient 3 times for Profhilo treatments with an overall cost of £1,050. Now that the result has been achieved, the patient will only need to visit Dr Gilani for 1 top up treatment per year. So what’s so great about Profhilo? Adored by celebrities such as Vogue Williams, Sadie Frost and Millie McIntosh as well as patients across the globe, this medical injectable is one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market. No wonder it is often referred to the as injectable moisturiser. Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. This treatment

Under 18s Botox ban, is it too late for the Instagram generation?

Don’t get us wrong, we love social media. It’s great being able to connect with you all and being able to support other independent businesses. And who doesn’t love a bit of reality tv?! We’re first to confess that we do! But sadly these platforms, as we all know, do have their drawbacks.   One of the downsides is the immense pressure people feel when they compare themselves to someone else after seeing them online or on the telly. A high number of viewers sadly are our children, who scroll through heavily airbrushed photos that celebrities post and then end up wishing that they could have higher cheekbones, fuller lips or cat-like eyes too.   This behaviour has caused a movement over the last few years which has been a surge in teenagers seeking tweakments. In fact, more than 41,000 procedures were carried out on those under 18 last year alone! Yes, you read that correctly!   Not only this but a lot of the work was carried out by cowboys, who are not medically qualified or experienced, which has in turn seen some horrific botched outcomes such as blood clots and partial blindness to necrosis in the facial tissue.
